Heather's Weight loss for the second three weeks

Okay so this three weeks has seemed to pass me by so quickly I can't believe it and I'm sad to say I only lost 4 pounds. :( I guess at least it is 4 pounds, let's be positive. So from the beginning I am down 7.95%! I am not sure if that is how we are suppose to be doing that or % lost per three weeks, so just let me know and I'll do the three week % lose if that is what I need also. :) I better get myself in gear and do better next time. :)

Jackie's Sad excuses

Well three weeks have passed me by again and I am embarrassed to say I have nothing to show for it. I know that my excuses pave the pathway to staying fluffy but I have oh so many good excuses like it was my anniversary one weekend and how can you not indulge....... and on Valentines day I couldn't pass up my favorite box of chocolates my father-in-law gives me every year..... and I was under the weather with a little flu bug for over week and instead of cooking we ate A LOT of fast food and we all know how good that is for the waist line. So now that I have shared my excuses I do feel better and I say to myself HAKUNA MATATA and I am moving forward {no more excuses}.
So I lost 0 lbs this time. ;{

Baby Jonathan Has Arrived

Well, Jennifer is trying to take a quick rest before feeding time, so I thought I would send out a quick update. Jonathan was born on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at 12:54pm. He was 8lbs 13oz and 21.5 inches long - it's a good thing we scheduled an early C-Section. [The nurse just wheeled the little stinker in and we're attempting to feed].

Everything has gone well so far. I watched the surgery and was surprised I didn't pass out - I'm not good with blood. Raegan is missing mommy and can't wait for her to get home with the baby. Both Jennifer's parents and mine have been helping out a lot and we are grateful for that. We'll be in here a couple more days and probably head home.

Here are a few pictures. I'll let Jennifer post more later.

fajita in a Pita with a greek salad twist

Okay so this recipe is so yummy and healthy and has become one of my favorites. I just love it. Give it a try you’ll love it also. I got the inspiration the other day when I ate this at Crackers and loved it and thought I can make this for a fraction of the price and it was just as good made at home and cheaper.

First I marinated the chicken in my favorite chicken marinade that I use for anything that I need in a Mexican dish, here is the secret recipe for that…

Garlic-lime Marinade (great on chicken or steak)

4 cloves garlic
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
2 Tbsp. olive oil

Blend all these ingredients together in a blender or food processor. Marinate chicken or steak in it for 10 minutes and grill out your chicken. When done grilling cut your chicken into strips for your pita. Then I cut up green peppers, red peppers, and onion and toss with a little olive oil and grill in a grill basket till a crisp tender. Then put chicken strips, roasted veggies, a little fresh salsa, and a little fat free sour cream on a pocketless pita or flatbread. Then serve, it is so yummy.

The salad is also very yummy I call it my,

Greek Salad

Romaine lettuce
Cucumber
Tomatoes
Green Peppers
Onion (just a little)
Feta Cheese
Then toss with dressing below…

Red Wine Vinegar Dressing

1/2 Cup Veg. or Canola oil
1/4 Cup Red Wine Vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. oregano
Fresh ground pepper

Combine all ingredients in screw top jar. Cover tightly and shake well or can use whisk. Refrigerate and put on salad just before serving. Might not use all, just depends on how much salad you are making.

Jess's Weight Loss

Jess lost 2.4 lbs and -1.45%

My Bad

So sorry for the mistake, I calculated most of the percentages and was off. I fixed them all and also the order of greatest weight loss percentage to least. So check week 3 results to see where you are in the order to get motivation to push ahead.
;) Jackie

thank you

This is Jennifer, Blake's wife. I just wanted to thank all of you for participating in this weight loss challenge. It is REALLY motivating my husband to get healthy--especially now that he sees he is in last place! Apparently, all he needed was a little competition to motivate him. I told him we could compete, but he knows I will pull ahead very quickly in a short amount of time after I give birth to this little butterball I am carrying. I wish all of you the best of luck--the harder you work at losing weight, the harder he will, too. :) You have managed to accomplish what I have been trying to accomplish for nearly two years. Bless you, bless you, bless you!

Thanks Blake!  I double checked mine and my -3.56% is right. I lost 8 lbs, I just never told anyone my starting or current weight.  I'm a little embarassed!!!

Percent Weight Loss Clarification

I think my post including the percent weight loss calculation was a little confusing because it used the words "final weight" and "initial weight". It's easy to mix up the terms and think of them oppositely - which is what most everyone has done :) So far Lori was the only one to do the calculation correctly - so we're all guilty ... hahahaha. Anyway, below is a new image of the calculation with the terms "starting weight" and "current weight". Your starting weight is the weight you first posted at the beginning of the competition. Your current weight is whatever you currently weigh, right now. The result should be a NEGATIVE number, because we lose weight... so it is a percent decrease. If your number comes out positive then you need to adjust your diet.. .hahaha. Anyway, I'm not trying to be anal or anything... just want to make sure there is consistency with everyone's calculations :)

Here is the equation again:

Here is an example:

Week 3 results

Heather -5.95%
Melba -5.50%
Grant -4.25%
Christi -3.56%
Jen -3.60%
Jackie -3.27%
Lori -2.8%
Blake -2.26%
Jess -1.54%
Still waiting for Bethanne and Leslee's weight loss.....

Grant and Melba's weight loss

Grant lost a total of 8 lbs = -4.25 %

Melba lost 12 lbs = -5.50%
Congratulations on you weight loss everyone and keep it up !!!!

Slowly...blake

Well, I have lost some weight but I'm obviously going to have to step it up a bit. I don't have a picture of my scale this time but I have my little running chart. I'm down to 260lbs which is a 2.26% weight decrease. I am on track when it comes to achieving my goal, however, this is still a competition.... :)

Heather's Weight loss for the three weeks

Okay so thankfully Blake put how to do the % lost cause if not I'd be lost, thanks Blake. Anyway, these three week have been good, but could have been better with a bit more exercise. That will be my goal for the next three weeks. I have lost a little more then 12 pounds making my total % lost a wooppping 5.95%!! Yeppie. I guess it helps to have the stomach bug for a couple days also. :)

My progress

Hello everybody!

I am still doing great and more importantly, feeling great!

I have lost a TOTAL of 8 lbs which equals . . . 3.56%.

I am so excited! Thanks for all of the motivation.

Weigh In Day

Time flies!!! It has been three weeks since we have started and it's time to chart our progress. Please weigh in today and post your weight loss percentage; I will then post the standings (1st, 2nd, 3rd..... and so forth).

As for me I lost 6 lbs in the last three weeks and my total weight loss percentage is ......... (drum roll please)............-3.27 %

I thought I would add a super yummy and easy recipe from the south beach diet I have been doing.
Taco Soup

1/2 lb lean ground beef (cooked)

1 can diced tomatoes

1 can tomato sauce

1 can red kidney beans

1 can black beans

1 cup of water

1 packet of taco seasoning

Toss it all in the crock pot and VOILA, dinner is finished. I added some low fat cheese and sour cream to my bowl and it was super tasty, the kids and my hubby also added tortilla chips and loved it too!

I can't wait to see every one's progress!!!!
